The Team: A Season With McLaren is a 7 part TV series produced by John Gau Productions for the BBC during the 1993 Formula One season and first transmitted on BBC Two during November and December 1993. The series followed the team and regular drivers Ayrton Senna and Michael Andretti, as well as test driver Mika Häkkinen, giving a behind the scenes insight to the McLaren team.

Dave Ryan, born on May 12, 1954, in New Zealand, is a respected motorsport figure known for his 35-year tenure with McLaren Formula 1. Starting as a mechanic, he rose to become Team Manager and Sporting Director, contributing to McLaren’s numerous victories and championships with drivers like Ayrton Senna and Lewis Hamilton. After leaving McLaren in 2009, he founded VonRyan Racing, which competed in GT racing. He returned to F1 with Manor as Racing Director in 2015 and later joined W Series to promote diversity in motorsport.
