The kids and Uncle Anders want to participate in the hotels competition to become “The Sunny Family of The Year” but father says no, underlining that “We’re good enough as we are!” He changes his mind, though, when he meets the competing family, and recognize the father as his old school mate, who’s been bullying him for all of their school years, for being physically inadequate. Consequently father enters the competition with all his might and heart, and what should have been a friendly contest, ends up being a fight for honor and redemption, and it’s only by the loving and innovative intervention from the kids, that father in the ends realizes that the family really doesn’t need to go to any of such extremes. Translator Lena Feldhusen travels to Copenhagen to supposedly research the Danish writer Karen Blixen. However, there is another reason behind the trip: the search for her father Carl, whom she last saw in her early childhood. During the trip, she meets the charming Mads, who also turns out to be a Blixen expert and runs the museum of the same name. Her trip becomes a confrontation with herself, old family conflicts and the chance of a new love.
Policeman Karl Jørgensen was once a prominent detective, but due to a violent temper he's now checking out passports at the airport, smuggling stout to work in his thermos every day. However, Kaj, the boyfriend of his daughter, is suddenly killed by a heroin overdose injected by hooded gangsters. It turns out he was spying on their organisation for his brother, Frank, who was framed by them while smuggling narcotics. When Frank hears about Kaj's death, he escapes from prison to get back at the killers. Meanwhile, the same gangsters threaten Karl Jørgensen's daughter, and soon Karl is involved in a major drug smuggling case. Frank and his buddy rob a bank and shoot a police officer. A country-wide manhunt ensues while Karl is having trouble with controlling his daughter's vigilante activities, with finding out who killed Kaj, with the police detectives on the case and with his own alcoholic and lacking existence.
