"History of Highlander Philosophy" by Fr. Tischner is a warm and humorous praise of thinking, freedom and the joy of life. The film was made at the shelter of Fr. Wojnar is a wealthy man who is marrying off his beautiful daughter Kasia, in a small town in present day Poland. Wojnar had to bribe the groom with a fancy car, since Kasia was pregnant by another man. At the end of the ceremony, the car is delivered by a gangster, who immediately demands the promised money and the deed to land from Kasia's grandfather. Unfortunately grandpa is unwilling to let go of the land. Meanwhile each of the workers at the reception demand to be paid, so Wojnar, who is very reluctant to part with his money, tries to haggle and bribe his way out of all the situations.
The protagonist of the film is a 12-year-old boy - Witek, the son of a small-town miller, a former entrepreneur who, after the war, holed up in a small town as a craftsman. The boy's mother is a beautiful and subtle woman, raising children and raising a home. Through the house of Witek's parents there is a gallery of picturesque characters who are perceived by the child warmly and with humor.
Andrzej, who lives in the lowlands, comes to Zakopane. He rents a carriage and orders himself to be taken to the Strążyska Valley.
